Dr. O’Brien’s patients in Vero Beach are able to enjoy summer to the fullest including going to the beach, outdoor barbeques, swimming, playing golf, scuba diving, and more, without the burden of wearing glasses or contacts thanks to the amazing results achieved by undergoing corrective vision surgery at New Vision Eye Center.
Dr. O’Brien is not only an advocate of laser vision correction as a doctor but also as a patient. He shares personally how laser vision correction has made his life better. Dr. O’Brien is now able to pursue the outdoor activities that he loves, including racing his bike, scuba diving, competing in triathlons, and surfing.
“I had [Conductive Keratoplasty] done myself on September 2, 2004, by Dan Durrie, MD. I have enjoyed turning the clock back and regaining my near vision. It has been a life changing event for me. I now see well at a distance and near. I have sacrificed no vision for night driving or racing my bike. Mostly, I am freer to perform daily activities without the hassle of being so dependent on glasses.”

The Latest Technology
Dr. O’Brien offers his patients the latest in laser vision correction with Contoura Vision LASIK. This is groundbreaking technology that completely customizes the LASIK procedure. The Contoura Laser uses topographic technology to map out each individual’s eyes. In doing this, the laser correction is able to account for the unique elevation of each eye and provide a more accurate result than ever before.
After Contoura Vision Lasik, 92.6% of patients were left with 20/20 vision or better, which is considered “normal”. 64.8% of patients who had the procedure done achieved 20/16 vision or better, which is considered better than normal. The surgery makes both close up and far away vision much clearer. Contoura Vision LASIK especially helps people who have trouble seeing far away and at night more than ever before. Patients report that the surgery has aided in reducing sensitivity to light, starbursts, halos, and glare.
In Focus Future
Dr. O’Brien’s patients are pleased with the results of their LASIK surgeries. He has performed over 11,000 LASIK procedures and, of that number, only 4% of his patients have needed an enhancement. Dr. O’Brien always takes the time to ensure each patient gets the right care and has the most beneficial procedure done for their eyes.
