Fellowship Trained
Christopher W. Seery, M.D., joined New Vision Eye Center in September 2023. As a fellowship trained cornea specialist, Dr. Seery provides expert medical and surgical care for a variety of routine as well as complex corneal issues, including medical, surgical, and laser eye care. His expertise especially lies in full and partial thickness corneal transplantation (DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, and PKP), refractive and complex cataract surgery, and laser vision correction.
Dr. Seery graduated undergraduate from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where he graduated magna cum laude. During his tenure, he competed as a member of the rowing team, serving as captain of the team as elected by his coaches and peers, and competed nationally and internationally. He went on to earn his medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. He continued his leadership here serving as a peer mentor to aid with the transition to medical education while achieving honors in his clinical rotations and high praise for his compassionate care.
Dr. Seery remained at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School for his internship and ophthalmology residency training. Here, he was exposed to all subspecialties of ophthalmology and received several accolades for his compassionate and high-quality care, including The Residency Director’s Award as well as The Rev. James F. Reilly Humanitarian Award. He developed a passion for cornea surgery for the potential of visual rehabilitation.
In order to gain the expertise as a cornea and refractive surgeon, he completed his fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.
Dr. Seery is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), speaks medical and conversational Spanish, is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). Dr. Seery has presented his research at several conferences including ARVO, ASCRS, and AAO, and has also published his work widely.
Dr. Seery lives in Vero Beach, where he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, traveling, fishing, golfing, and pursuing a variety of outdoor activities.
