I am an eye surgeon who specializes in vision correction procedures. I had LASIK done on both of my eyes in 1999 with excellent results. I experienced total freedom from eyewear for many years. I was thrilled and found myself doing things I had never done previously. I became a certified diver, an avid triathlete, and a beginner surfer.
Then I had my fortieth birthday. I soon began experiencing the inevitable vision changes of middle age. I lost my near vision seemingly overnight. I was totally frustrated with having to put on reading glasses to see anything within my arm’s length. It was the first time that I felt old.
I began doing CK (conductive keratoplasty) in 2003. I have enjoyed offering CK in my practice because of its safety, ease, and rapid results. My patients love the freedom of not having to reach for glasses for near tasks. I wanted that freedom back!
I had CK done myself on September 2, 2004 by Dan Durrie, MD. I have enjoyed turning the clock back and regaining my near vision. It has been a life changing event for me. I now see well at distance and near. I have sacrificed no vision for night driving or racing my bike. Mostly, I am more free to perform daily activities without the hassle of being so dependent on glasses.
I wouldn’t hesitate to have CK again. I urge those of you who desire more visual freedom to visit us for further information. My personal experience with this procedure gives me a unique perspective and insight as to how to help you simplify your life.
