Robert M. Reinauer, MD, joined New Vision Eye Center in July of 2015, after completing his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. As a retinal specialist, he sees patients in need of surgical care of the retina, such as detachments, the removal of floaters, and macular holes. In addition, he provides customized medical treatment of dry and wet macular degeneration and diabetic eye care.
His overarching goal is to capitalize on the most advanced surgical techniques, laser treatments, and drug therapies to minimize patient discomfort, accelerate healing, and maximize long-term outcomes.
Dr. Reinauer’s six years of post-graduate training included his ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI, which he completed in June of 2013. Prior, he interned at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, TX, emphasizing internal medicine.
Dr. Reinauer attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in San Antonio and received his undergrad degree from The University of Texas.
In addition to his comprehensive education, Dr. Reinauer speaks medical Spanish and completed several ophthalmology mission trips to Latin America during his training. He is now on the board of directors for Chosen Eye Missions and makes many trips each year to perform sight-saving surgeries in impoverished areas of Central America.
Dr. Reinauer is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Further, he serves on the board of directors of the We Care Foundation. Published in both the Retina Times and the Review of Ophthalmology, he holds a medical license from the Texas Medical Board in addition to Florida.
