Diseases & Surgery of the Retina & Vitreous

Roger Meyer, M.D., joined the staff of New Vision Eye Center on July 20, 2009. He specialized in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous, with a special interest in Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD), Diabetic Eye Care, Glaucoma, and the optic nerve. As a fellowship trained, nearly 30-year veteran of ophthalmology in Indian River County concentrating on treatment of the Retina & Vitreous, Dr. Meyer drew patients and referrals from around the country.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee - graduating Cum Laude. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. From there, Dr. Meyer completed internship training at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago in categorical internal medicine. He returned to Northwestern for his residency in ophthalmology. Because of his special interest in diseases and surgery of the retina, Dr. Meyer then entered the fellowship training program at Northwestern for vitreo-retinal surgery.

Dr. Meyer has published and lectured in his field. His article "Recurrences and Bilaterality in Multiple Evanescent White-Dot Syndrome" has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Meyer and his wife Mary Jo have two grown children and reside in Vero Beach.

Upon his retirement, Dr. Meyer turned the care of his patients over to the highly capable hands of Dr. Robert Reinauer, who joined the practice in 2015. Dr. Reinauer is also fellowship trained in diseases and surgery of the retina & vitreous and shares Dr. Meyer's passion for providing patients with the very best care possible.
